APUS announces new legal studies degree
Staff report
Thursday Dec 3, 2009 19:20:29 EST

The American Public University System has introduced a new degree for students interested in learning more about legal doctrine but not necessarily practicing law.

The 36-credit Master of Arts in Legal Studies is intended for paralegals, law enforcement officers, issue advocates and other professionals who want to better understand how legal issues affect their roles and responsibilities, according to the university.

The program does not prepare students for the practice of law, and graduates are not eligible for admission to the bar of any state based solely on their completion of the program.
