College systems across the U.S. are reporting record enrollments this fall.
Student enrollment at Kentucky’s colleges and universities this fall is at an all-time highmainly because more people are enrolled at community and technical colleges: Kentucky’s community college system saw an increase of more than 11 percent from 2008, totaling 100,000.
In Indiana, officials say this school year’s record enrollment is leading to nearly $63 million in unexpected revenue for its campuses across the state; the additional money will help with the hiring of top-level professors and covering unbudgeted needs.
Preliminary numbers show that enrollment at colleges and universities in Arkansas is up by 6.3 percent from a year ago, for a new high of 165,201 students.
Enrollment is up nearly 7 percent in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System this fall, driven by a surge in demand at community colleges. The system now has nearly 199,000 students, a record fall enrollment.
The two largest universities in the Montana university system are also reporting record enrollment. The University of Montana reported enrollment of 14,921 this fall, up 714 from a year ago. Montana State’s enrollment is 12,764, or 395 more than the previous record, set in 2008.
