Send us your college application essay and you could win a new netbook!
EDGE, the monthly education magazine of all the Military Times newspapers, wants to see the masterpiece that helped you get into college — or is going to help you get into college. The best college application essays we receive, as judged by a panel of college admissions counselors, will be featured in the October issue of EDGE, and the grand-prize winner will receive a new Asus Eee PC netbook from Purchasing Power.
The deadline to enter is 11:59 p.m., July 1, 2011. Here are some details you need to know:
- All active-duty service members, reserve service members, National Guard members, veterans and their dependents are eligible to enter.
- Each person can enter up to five essays that were submitted or will be submitted as part of an application to an undergraduate or graduate degree program.
- Submitted essays do not need to have been written recently; feel free to dig through your files for essays written years ago.
- Don’t submit anything you don’t want printed; the top essays will be published with your name in Military Times EDGE, and online at www.militarytimesedge.com
- Essays can be on any topic. Include, if possible, the original essay question or prompt.
- Winners will be notified on or about Sept. 5, 2011.
- Contact Cecilia Hadley at chadley@militarytimes.com if you have any questions about the contest.
