Best places to go fed
Staff report
Friday Nov 13, 2009 15:40:00 EST

Feds are pretty happy these days. Employee satisfaction is up in 71 percent of federal agencies, according to the new “Best Places to Work in the Federal Government” rankings, produced every two years by the Partnership for Public Service and American University’s Institute for the Study of Public Policy Implementation.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission scored highest overall in employee satisfaction for large agencies (more than 2,000 employees), followed by the Government Accountability Office and NASA. The highest-ranking small agency was the Surface Transportation Board, then the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and the Congressional Budget Office.

The rankings were developed with data collected by the Office of Personnel Management in its most recent Federal Human Capital Survey, which compiled responses from more than 212,000 civil servants.
